How financial institutions are tackling the net zero challenge

24 September 2021

Event Summary

It is now widely recognised that financial institutions can be a powerful force in the “race to net zero”. This event from the Climate Governance Initiative's Financial Sector Hub, in collaboration with HSBC and Chapter Zero France, explored how financial institutions can define credible and transparent commitments to finance the transition to net zero while establishing a robust framework to monitor progress. We also debated whether co-operation can help overcome some of the challenges and help unlock the trillions needed to achieve a resilient, zero emissions future.

Speakers:

  • Francesca Tondi Guy, former banker, board member of UniCredit Group and chair of its ESG committee chaired the discussion.
  • Zoë Knight, Managing Director, Group Head, HSBC’s Centre of Sustainable Finance,
  • André Abadie, Managing Director, Head of Global Environmental and Social Risk Management, JP Morgan.
